Extend Your Season With Clean, Quiet, Reliable Exterior Propane Heat
Supported by our local Fort Collins, Colorado team. The Propex HeatSource HS2211 is a weatherproof, exterior-mounted propane air heater that delivers 6,500 BTU of clean, dry heat into your cabin without taking up floor or wall space. Mount it under the vehicle, set the Digistat thermostat, and keep camping through cold nights and shoulder seasons.
It is a strong fit for camper vans, trailers, tiny homes, boats, semis, and rooftop tents where you want permanent heat and you cannot spare cabin space for an interior furnace. Have room inside? The HS2000 (6,500 BTU) and HS2800 (9,500 BTU) mount in the cabin.
Why Choose Propane Over Diesel?
Diesel heaters have their place, but propane is often the better fit for van and trailer heat. Propane is a clean, convenient fuel source without the diesel fuel-gelling concerns that can complicate winter operation, and Propex keeps combustion sealed off from the air you breathe.
- Less fuel odor: Propane provides little to no fuel smell compared with diesel-fueled heaters.
- Cold-weather friendly: Propane does not have the diesel gelling issue that can complicate winter operation.
- High-elevation capable: Add the High Altitude Modification for reliable combustion at elevations up to 10,000 ft; it also runs well at sea level.
- Quiet and dependable: Integrated electronics and self-diagnostic safety controls keep the system steady once installed.
- Dry heat: Sealed combustion delivers dry heat without adding moisture from burner exhaust inside the living space.
- Cabin space stays yours: Exterior / underfloor mounting leaves your floor and walls free for storage, bunks, and living space.
Warm, Dry Heat Without Combustion Inside
The HS2211 mounts outside the living space, typically under the vehicle. Heated air is ducted into the cabin while the combustion process stays separate from the air you breathe.
Propex uses a closed-loop forced-air heating system. Cabin air is circulated through the heater, warmed, and returned to the same space. Fresh combustion air is drawn from outside, and exhaust gases, including carbon monoxide, are directed outside when installed to Propex requirements.
| Heater location | Exterior / underfloor, weatherproof |
| Heated air | Recirculated from the cabin through the heater and back inside |
| Combustion air | Drawn from outside |
| Exhaust | Directed outside when installed to Propex requirements |
| Heat type | Forced-air propane heat |
| Thermostat | Digital Digistat included |

Not the right fit if
- You cannot mount a weatherproof unit under the vehicle or on an exterior surface (this heater is exterior / underfloor only; look at the interior-mount HS2000)
- Your space needs substantially more than 6,500 BTU of heat (look at the interior-mount HS2800 for 9,500 BTU)
- You need a portable heater with no permanent install (look at the PS2000 Slimline, our newest portable, or the older PS2000 Portable Heater System)
