Extend Your Season With Clean, Quiet, Reliable Interior Propane Heat
Supported by our local Fort Collins, Colorado team. The Propex HeatSource HS2000 is a compact, interior-mounted propane air heater that delivers 6,500 BTU of clean, dry heat. Set the Digistat thermostat, and keep camping through cold nights and shoulder seasons without diesel smell, fuel gelling, or combustion gases in your cabin air.
It is a strong fit for RVs, trailers, tiny homes, semis, boats, and other builds where you have a small interior mount location and want permanent, quiet propane heat. Heating a larger van, trailer, or colder climate build? The HS2800 (9,500 BTU) is the bigger brother with the same interior-mount design.
Why Choose Propane Over Diesel?
Diesel heaters have their place, but propane is often the better fit for van and trailer heat. Propane is a clean, convenient fuel source without the diesel fuel-gelling concerns that can complicate winter operation, and Propex keeps combustion sealed off from the air you breathe.
- Less fuel odor: Propane provides little to no fuel smell compared with diesel-fueled heaters.
- Cold-weather friendly: Propane does not have the diesel gelling issue that can complicate winter operation.
- High-elevation capable: Choose the High Altitude option for reliable combustion around 9,000-11,000 ft; it also runs well at sea level.
- Quiet and dependable: Integrated electronics and self-diagnostic safety controls keep the system steady once installed.
- Dry heat: Sealed combustion delivers dry heat without adding moisture from burner exhaust inside the living space.
- Small footprint: Compact interior mounting fits tight cabinets, under-bunk spaces, and other small install areas.
Warm, Dry Heat Without Combustion Inside
The HS2000 mounts inside the living space in a compact footprint. Heated cabin air recirculates through the heater while the combustion process stays separate from the air you breathe.
Propex uses a closed-loop forced-air heating system. Cabin air is circulated through the heater, warmed, and returned to the same space. Fresh combustion air is drawn from outside through dedicated pipes, and exhaust gases, including carbon monoxide, are directed outside when installed to Propex requirements.
| Heater location | Interior mount, compact footprint |
| Heated air | Recirculated from the cabin through the heater and back inside |
| Combustion air | Drawn from outside |
| Exhaust | Directed outside when installed to Propex requirements |
| Heat type | Forced-air propane heat |
| Thermostat | Digital Digistat included |
What's in the Kit?

- Buyers who want a fixed install with a small footprint and low 12V draw
- Regular camping above about 7,500 ft (choose the High Altitude option)
Not the right fit if
- You cannot spare any interior space for a furnace mount (this heater is interior-mounted)
- Your space needs substantially more than 6,500 BTU of heat (look at the HS2800)
- You need a portable heater with no permanent install (look at the PS2000 Slimline or PS2000 Portable Heater System)
