Easy, Portable, Clean, Quiet, Reliable Propane Heat for Camp
Designed in-house, assembled, and supported by our local Fort Collins, Colorado team. The Propex PS2000 Slimline is our newest, most streamlined portable propane heater. It brings 6,500 BTU of quiet, dry, forced-air heat to small camping spaces without the fuel smell, noise, or cold-weather fuel-gelling headaches that can come with diesel heaters.
It is a great fit for truck campers, tents, hunting and ice fishing shelters, day camps, and other small spaces where dependable heat matters, and it ships high-altitude modified from our shop, ready for camping at 10,000 ft and above. Want permanent heat instead? The HS2000 (6,500 BTU) and HS2800 (9,500 BTU) are the fixed-install interior options.
Why Choose Propane Over Diesel?
Diesel heaters have their place, but propane can be a better fit for portable camping heat. Propane is a clean, convenient fuel source without the diesel fuel-gelling concerns that can complicate winter operation, and the Slimline keeps combustion separate from the air you breathe.
- Less fuel odor: Propane provides little to no fuel smell compared with diesel or gasoline-fueled heaters.
- Cold-weather friendly: Propane does not have the diesel gelling issue that can complicate winter operation.
- High-elevation ready: Ships high-altitude modified, so it is ready for mountain camping at 10,000 ft and above with no extra service needed.
- Quiet operation: An integrated muffler and full-length intake pipe help keep operating noise to approximately 65 dB.
- Dry heat: Forced-air heat without adding moisture from combustion inside the living space.
- Easy to take along: A compact aluminum case, quick-disconnect propane connection, and 12V DC power connection make the Slimline easy to move between adventures.
Warm, Dry Heat Without Combustion Inside
The Slimline is designed to sit safely outside your tent, truck camper, or other camping space, while heated air is ducted inside. The combustion process stays separate from the air you are breathing.
Propex uses a closed-loop forced-air heating system. Air from your living space is circulated through the heater, warmed, and returned to the same space, so you are not constantly pulling cold outside air in just to heat it. Fresh combustion air is drawn from outside, and exhaust gases, including carbon monoxide, are directed outside.
| Heater location | Outside the occupied tent, camper, or shelter |
| Heated air | Recirculated from the living space through the heater and back inside |
| Combustion air | Drawn from outside |
| Exhaust | Directed outside when set up to Propex requirements |
| Heat type | Forced-air propane heat |
| Thermostat | Digital thermostat included |

Built for Real-World Camping
Mountain Time Campers, the home of Propex in North America, took the proven Propex HS2000 heater and packaged it inside a compact, portable aluminum case. The result is a heating system that moves between adventures instead of becoming a permanent part of one vehicle or shelter. It is the streamlined successor to our original PS2000 suitcase.
- TIG-welded aluminum case: Durable 16-gauge aluminum protects the heater while keeping combustion air separate from recirculated heated air.
- Weather-resistant design: IP67-rated connections and a weather-resistant case help protect the heater from the elements.
- Protected combustion intake: Stainless-steel mesh helps keep bugs and debris out of the combustion tube housing.
- Efficient air circulation: Heavy-duty outlet ducting directs heated air where you need it, while lightweight return-air ducting improves circulation and efficiency.
- Portable propane connection: A compact quick-disconnect propane regulator and hose assembly are included.
- Easy storage: Inlet and outlet caps keep dirt and debris out when the heater is packed away.
Designed for Flexible Camp Setups
The Slimline is built as a portable heater for temporary use, not a permanently hard-mounted furnace. Set it up at camp, then pack it away for travel. The 14-gauge rear panel can help with short-term positioning on setups like a Hiker Trailer, Vanagon, teardrop Molle panel, or custom overland rig. If you need a true wall-mounted install, the HS2000 is the better fit.
For rooftop tents and similar setups, keep the exhaust pointed away from the tent. As long as exhaust is directed away, the heater can sit fairly close, about 12 inches or so.
Where Will You Take Your Heat?
| Adventure | Why the Slimline makes sense |
|---|---|
| Truck camping | Keep the heater outside while ducting comfortable heat into your camper. |
| Tent camping | Dry forced-air heat at a cold campsite without putting combustion inside your tent. |
| Hunting | Start an early morning in a warmer shelter without hauling a large heating system. |
| Ice fishing | Portable propane heat for cold-weather shelters and long days outside. |
| Van and trailer camping | A compact heating option for small campers, vans, and teardrop-style trailers. |
