SylvanSport FAQ

SYLVANSPORT

LIGHTWEIGHT, VERSATILE

GO:

01. How much weight can I carry on the gear deck?

Up to 810 Pounds! *the weight of any gear on the equipment rack should be taken off the capacity of the gear deck.

02. How much weight can I carry on the equipment rack?

165 Pounds!

03. How much does the GO weigh?

Only 840 lbs!

04. What hitch size and ball height does the go need?

The GO requires a 2-inch ball and a standard 4-pin flat connector for lighting. For a level ride, the ideal ball height is 17 inches from the ground to the center of the ball.

05. What about trailer lights?

The GO has running lights and brake lights. The GO uses a standard flat 4 pin connector to connect the wiring harness to your vehicle.

06. Does the GO have trailer brakes?

No. Because the GO is an ultralight camper (well under the 1,500-3,000 lb threshold where most states require brakes), it does not come with or require and auxiliary braking system.

07. How long does it really take to set up the go or close it down?

Typical setup time is 10-15 minutes. This includes unhitching, leveling the trailer, cranking up the rack system, and deploying the tent. The first time you set up your GO it may take you a bit longer, but like with anything, the more your do it the faster and easier it gets.

08. How many people can sleep in the go?

The GO comfortably sleeps up to 4 adults. The interior is highly configurable and can be set up as two Twin XL beds (34″x80″) or one massive “King-and-a-half” bed that covers the entire interior.

09. How big are the beds?

Each side bed is an XL Twin (34 inches wide by 80 inches long). Or if you choose to set it up as one big sleeping area, the size is equal to a King + XL Twin (116 inches wide by 80 inches long).

10. What is the weight capacity for the sleeping areas?

Each side bed platform is rated to 500 lbs, and the two center panels are rated at 250 lbs each, for a total of 500 lbs on the middle bed area.

11. Is the tent waterproof?

Yes. The tent is made of 220-denier ripstop polyester fabric, which is three times heavier-duty than standard camping tents. It is seam-sealed and entirely waterproof, so no additional tent is necessary.

12. Does the go have electricity?

The GO does not have electricity, but you have options. If you are camping at a site with electrical hook up, you can easily run a drop cord inside to add a power strip. We also have a solar kit that is a great option for power as well. Here’s more info about our Sunny Side Up Solar Kit.

13. Does the go have air conditioning?

The GO is designed to give you a tent camping experience and connection to nature. It does not have AC, but the tent itself is designed to have various points that allow for more air flow to prevent any muggy feeling inside the tent.

14. Can i add air conditioning?

Sure can! An easy way to keep the GO cooler in the summer is to add a fan to increase air flow. We also have seen GO owners add a small portable AC unit, so you can make that happen.

15. Can i camp in cold weather in the go?

Sure can! Bring your coziest sleeping bags and maybe add in a tent-safe heater to be set for cold weather camping.

16. So i’m camping and i need to carry all my gear, what are the dimensions of the gear deck?

The Gear Deck is 48 inches wide by 84 inches long. You can expand the interior height from 17″ up to 48″ by raising or lowering the Tent Pod. In the lowest position, the Gear Deck fits most standard coolers and totes.

17. What if i need to carry something taller than 17″?

Simply raise the Tent Pod to increase the Gear Deck height to 48” inches. You also have the option to mount bike, kayak, or cargo boxes on the equipment rack as well. *You can even remove the Tent Pod if you want to use the GO as a utility trailer instead of a camper.

18.What rack accessories can i use with the go?

The GO’s Equipment Rack fits most standard roof rack accessories by Yakima, Thule, 1Up, and others. It’s designed to mirror the roof rack on most vehicles so if the piece will fit on a roof rack it will likely fit on the GO.

19. How many bikes and kayaks can i carry?

This totally depends on your bikes/kayaks and the racks you choose, but we’ve seen some pretty impressive combinations using both the Gear Deck and Equipment Rack.

20. Can i add cross bars to the go to extend the width of my equipment rack?

Yes! We have the Inno 79” cross bars and foot packs available on our site or you can use any crossbar system.

21. What is the ground clearance of the go?

The ground clearance is 11 inches and it’s 13″ if the spare tire is removed from underneath the deck.

22. How fast can i drive with the go?

The tires are “interstate safe” tires so you can safely travel at highway speeds. We have many GO owners that have taken cross country trips with their GO!

23. What is included with the go?

Every GO comes with: 1 crank handle, stabilizer jack handle, 4 ratchet straps, 1 tailgate bungee, 2 storage pod keys, 2 Cloud Layer Mattresses – Large, 1 owner’s manual, 4 bed support poles, 3 tent poles, 2 bed panels, 1 table panel, 2 velcro straps, and 8 frame pins. If you choose to upgrade your GO with an accessory package, your GO will include additional accessories.

24. How do i store the go when i’m not using it?

We recommend storing it in a garage or covered area if possible, but the GO can also be stored outdoors with a cover. We have a Tyvek cover available for purchase on the GO accessories page.

25. What are the stored dimensions of the go?

It is 6.25 feet wide by 12 feet long from tongue to the back of the GO. The tongue cannot be removed for storage but you can also use the gear deck for storage if space is limited in your garage.

26. Is there an off-road version of the go?

Yes. The SylvanSport GO All-Terrain (GOAT) is specifically engineered for overlanding. It features a more robust frame, improved ground clearance and departure angle, Timbren axle-less suspension, and all-terrain tires.

27. Where is the go manufactured?

GO, along with all SylvanSport campers and trailers, are proudly designed, engineered, and built in Brevard, NC, USA, using the highest quality materials and construction methods.

28. Does the go come with a warranty?

You betcha! Every new GO comes with a 2 year warranty. We stand behind our products. If you have any manufacture-related issues in the first 2 years give us a call or email us and we’ll take care of you. Our warranty covers both the trailer and the tent!

29. What maintenance is required on the go?

Not a lot. That’s one really great thing about the GO, unlike many other RVs, there’s not much maintain. Once a year you should lubricate the bearings in the tires and the lift system and monitor tire pressure. We also offer a maintenance kit to make it easy!

30. What maintenance is required on the tent?

Like with any tent, best practice is to keep it clean and store it dry. If you have to pack it up wet, as soon as possible open it up and let it dry out. We recommend using a tent-safe wash after each trip, and a solar spray once a year, to help keep the tent in great condition and maintain the waterproof properties.

GOAT:

01. What are the stored dimensions of the GOAT?

The GOAT easily fits into a standard garage at 158″ long x 75.5″ wide x 57.5″ tall.

02. Can my vehicle tow the GOAT?

The first step is to find out the towing capacity of your vehicle. That can typically be found in the owner’s manual. Be sure your vehicle is rated to tow, as towing with “non-tow” vehicles could void your warranty.

03. How much does the GOAT weigh?

The dry weight of the GOAT is only 1,200 lbs!

04. What do I need to tow the GOAT?

In order to tow any trailer, you will need a 1-1/4′ or 2′ hitch installed on your vehicle, if you do not have one already. You will then need a 2″ ball, unless you opt for the articulated hitch. The height of the ball should be 19″ from the ground to the middle of the ball. *Pro tip, if you need a hitch installed on your vehicle, call your local U-haul location – they are usually an affordable place to book an installation appointment.

05. Does the GOAT have brakes?

Brakes are an optional upgrade.

06. How fast can I drive with he GOAT?

The tires are rated for highway speeds and you can travel safely within the speed limit anywhere in the United States.

The rack system can carry up to 200 lbs. Note: the carrying capacity of the rack system is included in the overall carrying capacity.

03. Can my vehicle tow the GO EASY?

Most vehicles equipped with a hitch can tow the GO EASY. With an unloaded weight starting around 253 lbs, the GO EASY is significantly lighter than most utility trailers. Always consult your vehicle owner’s manual for towing capacity and hitch requirements.

04. What is the total carrying capacity of the GO EASY?

The GO EASY offers a total payload capacity of approximately 477–547 lbs (depending on the package), with up to 300 lbs supported on the rack system.

05.Does the GO EASY have suspension?

Yes. Every GO EASY is equipped with a custom-tuned Dexter torsion axle. This premium suspension system provides a smoother ride, reduces bouncing, and helps protect your gear during transport.

06. How high are the crossbars from the ground?

The crossbars sit approximately 37 inches above the ground, making it much easier to load kayaks, bikes, and other gear compared to lifting them onto a vehicle roof.

07. Can the GO EASY be backed into the water?

Yes. The GO EASY features waterproof LED lights and sealed wiring, allowing it to be safely backed into the water for launching and loading watercraft.

08. Is the GO EASY made in the USA?

Yes. The GO EASY is proudly designed, engineered, and manufactured in Brevard, North Carolina.

09. How durable is the GO EASY?

The GO EASY is built with a powder-coated steel frame, premium hardware, waterproof wiring, and rotomolded components manufactured using the same process and materials used in many whitewater kayaks. It is designed for years of outdoor use and adventure.

10.How many kayaks can the GO EASY carry?

The GO EASY can carry up to four kayaks, depending on their size, weight, and the rack accessories used. For kayaks longer than 13 feet, we recommend selecting the optional 75″ Long Tongue to provide additional clearance between the kayaks and your tow vehicle while turning. This is especially helpful for touring kayaks, sea kayaks, and tandem kayaks.

11. How many bikes can the GO EASY carry?

The GO EASY can transport up to four bicycles when equipped with compatible bike rack accessories.

12. Can I carry e-bikes on the GO EASY?

Yes. The GO EASY is an excellent solution for transporting e-bikes because its low loading height reduces the amount of lifting required. Be sure your bike rack is rated appropriately for the weight of your e-bikes.

13. Can I carry fishing kayaks on the GO EASY?

Absolutely. Many customers use the GO EASY to transport fishing kayaks. Just ensure the combined weight of your boats and accessories remains within the trailer’s rack capacity.

14. Will my existing bike and kayak rack fit the GO EASY?

In most cases, yes. The GO EASY’s 79-inch crossbars are compatible with many popular rack systems and accessories from major manufacturers. Most kayak carriers designed to mount on standard crossbars will work with the GO EASY. If you have questions about a specific rack, our team can help verify compatibility.

15. What crossbars come with the GO EASY?

The GO EASY includes 79-inch DuraBar crossbars designed to support a wide variety of kayak, bike, SUP, and cargo accessories.

16. Can I transport stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) and surfboards?

Yes. The GO EASY is commonly used to transport SUPs, surfboards, canoes, and other outdoor gear in addition to kayaks and bikes.

17. Can I carry both bikes and kayaks at the same time?

In many cases, yes. Depending on the size of your gear and rack configuration, customers often transport multiple types of equipment simultaneously.

18. Do I need the standard tongue or the long tongue option?

The GO EASY comes standard with a 45″ tongue, which works well for most kayaks, canoes, bikes, and outdoor gear. If you regularly transport kayaks, canoes, or other watercraft longer than 13 feet, we recommend upgrading to the 75″ Long Tongue option. The additional tongue length provides greater clearance between your gear and your tow vehicle during turns, making towing longer boats safer and more comfortable.

19. How do I register and title my GO EASY?

Registration requirements vary by state. In most cases, customers will take the provided paperwork to their local DMV or registration office to complete the process. We recommend contacting your local DMV for specific requirements in your state.

20. What hitch and wiring connections are required?

The GO EASY uses a standard 2-inch hitch ball and a flat 4-pin wiring connector. The height of the ball should be between 15” and 17″ (from the ground to the middle of the ball). Most vehicles equipped for towing can easily accommodate these requirements.

21. Does the GO EASY include a VIN?

Yes. Every GO EASY includes a unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that is used for registration and ownership records.

22. Can I store the GO EASY outside?

Yes. The GO EASY is designed for outdoor use and storage. For maximum longevity, we recommend keeping the trailer clean and using a cover or sheltered storage whenever possible.
